Mobile Web Browsers: Opera Mini, Skyfire,Opera Mobile, Bolt Browser

September 13th, 2009 | View Comments | Posted in Mobile World, Software

mobile web browsersThere is no question that today’s smartphones are a godsent to high-tech travelers. But what good is a Web-enabled phone if its browser is cumbersome or slow? With the right handset and mobile web browser software, you can surf all manner of desktop-şevel sites, without having to carry a laptop with you or find a nearby desktop PC. Here are the best picks for the best of the mobile web browsers on market.

Skyfire mobile web browser is one of the most feature rich mobile web browser out there. Skyfire mobile web browser has a capability to display Flash, Silverlight, and AJAX content that the iPhone trips over and leaves blank. Skyfire mobile web browser starts up quickly and the main screen leaves plenty of place for the page display. And Windows Mobile fans struggling with IE Mobile should head straight for Skyfire Labs. Skyfire mobile web browser also works on Symbian powered Nokie-E and Nokia-N series smartphones.

BlackBerrys can run Java apps out of the box. While newer models already come with a halfway-decent browser, the Java capability means today’s Curves, Pearls, and 8080s are prime candidates for Opera Mini mobile web browser. The latest version of Opera Mini mobile web browser supports Rss feeds and is a cinch to navigate, though it lacks Skyfire mobile web browser’s Falsh, Silverlight and AJAX compatibility. Also need to mention that video streaming works well with latest version of Opera Mini mobile web browser.

Bitstreams’s Bolt mobile browser eschews the last ounce of page accuracy by replacing web fonts with its own. This means that many web sites that are usually off-limits on a cell phone come through crisp and clear. It’s a great option for BlackBerrys. Bolt mobile web browser has a nifty split-screen mode and supports 128-bit SSL encrypted web sites.

Finally, Opera continues to refine its powerful Windows Mobile Web browser Opera Mobile. The trick at this point is waiting for cell phone data radios and touch screen response to catch up.

InPrivate: Protect Your Privacy in IE

September 8th, 2009 | View Comments | Posted in Software

I just started to use IE8 and the new feature called InPrivate Browsing seems to be highly interesting feature for privacy concerned users. According to IE’s official decleration this feature will help to protect your privacy especially on shared computers. So whether it is a banking site, gift site, shopping site or… in most scenarios an adult site… this feature will block other users to reach the information of your browsing history…

InPrivate browsing 300x135 InPrivate: Protect Your Privacy in IEUnder the new InPrivate branding, IE8 now includes a privacy mode to allow browsing without leaving a trace (“InPrivate Browsing”), along with a feature to block the various mechanisms used to track users across websites (“InPrivate Blocking”). These new features are part of Microsoft’s continuing Trustworthy Computing initiative to ensure that software and websites respect the user’s privacy. When you choose InPrivate browsing, a new window is opened automatically and the sessions are cleare dout when this InPrivate browsing window closed.  So all your browser histories,  cookies, cached files, and autocomplete or other form information stored are cleared out when you close this InPrivate window. You can browse as many sites as you can through tabs browsing since all the new tabs will have the same InPrivate features.

InPrivate blocking the main target is to protect your browsing habit and so to block cookies from mainly advertising companies since simple cookie block sytem is not a new idea. InPrivate blocking, if a tracking code from a domain (say google analytics) is installed on 10 different site, on 11th site the cookies is not allowed to work so in this case, IE8 tries to hide information about your browsing habits. It might be a little complex mechanism for novice users but it helps to protect your privacy.

private browsing in safari 300x128 InPrivate: Protect Your Privacy in IEIn fact privacy concerns are considered by other browsers like Safari for example. When private browsing is on in Safari, webpages are not added to the history list, the Downloads window is cleared, information isn’t saved for AutoFill, and searches are not added to the pop-up menu in the search field. Any websites that store databases on your computer can’t modify the databases, so services normally available at such sites may be partially or completely unavailable until you turn off private browsing. The similar concept is built-in Chrome web browser also with a name of “Incoginto”. When you’ve gone incognito; pages that you view in incoginot window won’t appear in your browser history or search history, and they won’t leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer after you close the incognito window. Any files that you download or bookmarks that you create will be preserved, however. And Mozilla Firefox provides privacy with numerous add-ons.  I hope you like this also as I did ;)
